Our Magnificent Waterfall

A breath-taking "must see" attraction when planning your visit to our beautiful Downtown District

waterfall.JPG

This breathtaking waterfall enthusiasts come to see on Main Street in our Downtown District is not actually the one Menomonee Falls is named after. The natural waterfall namesake is actually located a short distance downstream in Lime Kiln Park and is a yearly destination for salmon. The well known falls that visitors come to admire is actually Leper Dam nestled in Mill Pond Park. Once a mill stood in the area of the park, now adventurers admire the beauty of the Menomonee River cascading over the dam.

The Mill Pond Park area has long been a focal point of Menomonee Falls. The original dam was constructed in 1851 to power a flour mill. When that dam washed out, M. F. Leper rebuilt the dam in 1886. The current Leper Dam was constructed in 1954 at the site of the 1886 dam. The 2.5-acre recreational area is a popular spot for outdoor events and photos at the iconic gazebo located on the east side of the river.

This awe inspiring site is a must see when planning your visit to our beautiful Downtown District.
